A Party for a Dancing Queen

So Ellie is now 4!  Michael insisted she have a party this year with her friends before we moved, while I was opting for the easier way out.  Michael won.  So I created this fun tutu party invite and we kept things incredibly simple by dancing to music, wacking balloons off the ceiling with our wands (cuz that really is fun for a kid), eating cake, and then playing with toys.  Ellie requested a pink castle cake and so I made a yummy strawberry buttercream frosting, homemade vanilla pudding, from scratch cake (which I think I am cursed at making, as in it fell, just not as bad as last year...I think I should give up), and adorned it with fresh strawberries and blueberries.  It was fun to put together.  The pudding was a thin layer between all the layers.  Yummy.
Here are the pics.

I found this awesome tutu second hand for a couple bucks!  Can't beat that!  She felt pretty special twirling around in it.  I made Abby's super fast before the party with some second hand tulle I found for fifty cents.  She felt pretty special too.  So cute.

Michael is such an amazing Dad.  He did everything but the cake for the party.  It was wonderful.

Assistance was needed for this really high balloon.

THE CAKE

Michael wanted Ellie to have a lot of candles to blow out so, naturally, he got the letters that spelled out happy birthday and poked them all around.  A bit tacky for my taste, but whatever, she loved it...it just meant more spit on the cake hahahaha.

Ellie got all bashful again while being sung to, just like last year.  So cute and funny.  I adore that face!

Oh the spitting towards the end....it wasn't too bad, but I know it happened.  YUM.

Here she is oh so proud to finally get them all out.  She looks like Queen Ellie with her blankey cape don't you think?

Present time.  All her friends were so excited to GIVE their gift.  It was cute.

Ellie had a great time and thanks to everyone who attended (and ate that crazy cake)!  She was so good and even thanked us for "throwing her such a wonderful tutu party".  I love it when her manners shine without prompting :)  Proud parent moment.

Lately...

Well, today is my official due date.  No baby.  Fine by me.  I vote for tomorrow or Saturday (I like the doc who is on call all weekend!)  Had a doc appt today with a doc I haven't seen in a couple months and he was all concerned about my measurement, so we did an ultrasound and non-stress test just like we did with Abby's pregnancy the day before she came.  He estimated the baby at 6 lbs 9 oz, which is bigger than Abby was.  Everything looked fine of course, including fluids.  And the baby wasn't stressed or anything.  I feel like the baby dropped furthur down this morning, even Michael agreed...it looks even more like I ate a basketball than yesterday!  So maybe that is why he measured my fundal height at 36 weeks, when I've been measuring only one cm off consistently this whole time with the other 3 docs.  I have to go back in on Monday if I don't go into labor this weekend to make sure the baby is still good.

Meanwhile, I feel ready for the baby to come.  I got all my errands finished yesterday.  In general, I feel just really great.  I'm not uncomfortable and I have so much energy.  Here's hoping it carries over into the post partum period :)  I'm going to try some hypnobirthing techniques this time round, so I'll let you know how that goes.  I've had two hypnobirthing dreams where I delivered and everything and it was awesome!  Hoping it becomes my reality.  And, NO, hypnobirthing is not wierd...really it is some awesome breathing and relaxation techniques.  People, including myself, get wierded out by the term hypno, so to clear the air, trust me, it's not wierd.  You practice the breathing a lot, and I feel it is a lot like yoga breathing.  It really oxygenates your body and I think it's why I feel so good this last month.  Anywho, I'll keep you posted. :)
