So I'm the second counselor in our wards Young Women presidency. I am absolutely loving every moment with these amazing girls. I spend most of my time with the beehives (12-13). They are a joy! They always have fun and love serving and including everybody. So in October we had Young Women In Excellence, where we recognize the girls efforts over the past year in becoming better and doing their Personal Progress. Our amazing Personal Progress Specialist planned a whole Grammy's Night, dinner included, for the girls and I got to plan the decor for the event. The girls loved it, especially the dressing up part and we even took pictures of them on our "red carpet". We wanted them to feel like "stars". One of my girls last month told me how it was "the best ever" and she wanted us to do the same thing again this year. I could only reply "we'll see" as I thought of all the hours of work it took!
Here's how my design worked out. Pretty close to the original which is always fun to see :)

| The design plan. The lights turned out different, but everything else worked out! |
| The large value banners on the wall were painted mostly by me. Each one took about 2-3 hours to complete. Big thank you to Rachael, Terra, and Katie!I just used a projector, twin sheets cut up into thirds and sewn nice, acrylic paint, and a lot of handiwork! Good news is I'll never have to do it again! Clear balloons added a nice touch. |
| The room just glowed. We played some fun old tunes to create a fun mood too. We just needed the boys and we could have had a dance. |
| One of our gorgeous Laurels posing on our "Red Carpet", aka plastic tablecloth. |
| These tissue balls took a long time, next time I'll try something not so involved. The YW banner I painted turned out splendidly. We used a desk lamp to shine up the gold logo a bit. Looked really great when the other lights were off for the slideshow. |
| Baby jars filled with water (or food) and wrapped up in tissue paper work as great weights for balloons. We used the leftover tissue paper scrapes as confetti on the tables. |
| The cute plexi glass awards each girl received for whatever their parents nominated them for. |
Oh Bert! I just love your sketches! And the real thing is so amazing!
